survivors leading the way to equality
The Sex Trade Survivor Caucus (STSC) is an all-survivor initiative dedicated to creating space for survivor voices, leadership, and collective action. Founded on the principles of collaboration and empowerment, STSC provides a supportive environment where survivors can connect, advocate, and drive meaningful change.
Through training, education, and advocacy, STSC works to ensure that survivor-centered practices are prioritized across systems and communities. STSC is committed to fostering a space where survivors can engage, build community, and influence change.
Our Values
We uphold a set of core values that define our purpose, guide our actions, and unite us as a community of survivors. These values are the pillars that define our organization's character and drive our mission. We are committed to upholding the following values:
Survivor Leadership
We recognize and celebrate survivor leadership. Empowering survivors to take on leadership roles within the STS and the broader anti-exploitation movement ensures that survivor experiences directly inform our strategies and vision.
Dignity & Human Rights
We uphold the principles of human rights and affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every individual. We oppose all forms of violence, coercion, and exploitation, advocating for the rights, dignity, and safety of victims and survivors.
Intersectional Solidarity
We embrace the diversity and intersectionality of survivors' experiences. We foster an inclusive and equitable environment that respects and values all identities, backgrounds, and lived realities, working collaboratively to address systemic injustices.
Collective Action
We believe in the power of collective action and collaboration. We actively engage survivors, professionals, and advocates to effect systemic change, driving policy reforms, and challenging societal norms that perpetuate exploitation.
Survivor Empowerment
We believe in the inherent strength and resilience of survivors. We foster an environment that empowers individuals to amplify their voices, stories, and agency, facilitating pathways to change. As experts in this work, survivors lead the way towards transformative change.
Evidence-Based Practices
We rely on evidence-based practices and research to inform our work. We continuously seek knowledge, engage in critical analysis, and use data-driven insights to shape effective strategies and interventions. We strive to dispel myths, challenge stigmas, and promote understanding of the complexities surrounding the sex trade.
Knowledge Sharing
& Research
We believe collaboration is key. We foster strong relationships between survivors and allies, agencies, and organizations. Equipping advocates with collective knowledge, we foster a deeper understanding of exploitation's complexities, driving meaningful change within society through survivor-led policy reforms.
Ending Harm,
Not Causing It
We promote practices that end harm. Models or policies that harm those in the sex trades and/or survivors engaging in anti-trafficking work are not aligned with our values.
Accountability
& Transparency
We value accountability and transparency in all our endeavors. We are committed to maintaining ethical standards, responsible governance, and open communication to ensure the trust and confidence of our members, partners, and the community.
Through these values, the Sex Trade Survivor Caucus (STSC) creates a supportive and inclusive space, challenging systems of oppression and tirelessly working toward lasting change in the fight against sexual exploitation and human trafficking. We drive meaningful impact, shaping a future where survivors' voices and experiences lead the way.
